I Have This Hope

November 13, 2019August 31, 2021 bethanygwb

We’re Adopting!

July 3, 2019July 3, 2019 bethanygwb

It seems surreal to type those words: we’re adopting! It’s a desire that my husband, Joseph, and I have had for so long, and we know that this is just the beginning of a long journey. Even as I type this post, I am completely humbled and amazed at the working of God to bring… Continue reading We’re Adopting!

Ashley and I sat down at a small table in my university’s food court, then we placed our Bibles and pens next to our lunch trays. I picked up my Chick-fil-A sandwich and before taking a bite, asked, “So what curriculum am I supposed to teach from?” After a long day, I wash my face, brush my teeth, put on my pajamas, and drop into the armchair in the corner of our bedroom. I wearily pick up my prayer journal and pen, my fingers releasing all the anxieties weighing on me from the day. When the Israelites returned from exile to the ruined city of Jerusalem, God commanded Nehemiah to lead the people in rebuilding the wall around it. You would think God would send the best, most experienced craftsmen in the empire to repair the once mighty wall. Ever since I became a mother, I’ve taken seriously the Shema—the comprehensive faith statement in Deuteronomy 6:5-7. Since I felt the first baby kicks in my belly, I’ve prayed my family would love the Lord in everything we do.
